Our journey began in 2021, when we followed a lifelong passion for horses and racing, by purchasing an interest in our first horse, “Speaking Scout”. What started as a leap of faith quickly became something extraordinary — Speaking Scout went on to capture the prestigious Grade 1 Hollywood Derby, sparking a deep love not only for the thrill of racing, but more importantly for the horses themselves. Since that first victory in 2021 this journey has
blessed us with not only success on the track but also friendships and mentorships with fellow owners, trainers, jockeys, and partners who share the same passion. We are proud to partner with two of the industry’s elite syndicates, West Point Thoroughbreds and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, who are always prioritizing the wellbeing of the horses above all else. Our philosophy is simple: we only collaborate with trainers, partnerships, and individuals who share our commitment to both the care and the aftercare of these magnificent athletes. These two reputable partners embody that philosophy.

What started as a leap of faith quickly became something extraordinary — Speaking Scout went on to capture the prestigious Grade 1 Hollywood Derby, sparking a deep love not only for the thrill of racing, but more importantly for the horses themselves. Since that first victory, SVR has expanded to include ownership interests in more than 48 racehorses and 11 broodmares.
We are proud to partner with two of the industry’s leading syndicates, West Point Thoroughbreds and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, always prioritizing the wellbeing of the horses above all else. Our philosophy is simple: we only collaborate with trainers, partnerships, and individuals who share our commitment to both the care and the aftercare of these magnificent athletes. Over the past four years, this journey has blessed us with not only success on the track — including 55 wins – 2nd’s (48), 3rd’s (27). 15 stakes victories, three Grade 1 wins, and multiple Grade 2 and Grade 3 triumphs — but also friendships and mentorships with fellow owners, trainers, jockeys, and partners who share the same passion.

Speaking Scout
Speaking Scout was a Grade 1-winning racehorse with a remarkable rags-to-riches story. A gelding by Mr Speaker, he was sold for as little as $3,000 as a yearling before being acquired by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners. He traveled the country and back numerous times, running his hardest on any surface, at any distance, taking us to so many great races and places, highlighted by his crowning moment in the Grade 1, $400,000 Hollywood Derby at Del Mar. Scout is as cool as they come and he's a true success story epitomizing all that's great about this game. After earning just under $700K, he sustained a career ending injury during his 4 year old season in June of 2024. He has since recovered and is enjoying a well deserved retirement.
Speaking Scout, Notable career highlights:
Grade 1 Hollywood Derby: This was the pinnacle of his career. Speaking Scout won the $400,000 race at Del Mar on December 3, 2022, securing his first Grade 1 victory. The win was particularly meaningful as it was achieved through Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners' "Newcomer" program, which allows new horse owners to participate in high-level racing. Hawthorne Derby: He earned a stakes victory in this race on October 1, 2022, dominating the field by five lengths. Pegasus World Cup Turf: Speaking Scout placed in the Grade 1, $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf invitational. Twilight Derby at Santa Anita: 2nd in the $200K G2. Monmouth Stakes at Monmouth Park: 3rd in the $150K G3. John Henry Turf Championship at Santa Anita: 3rd in the $200K G2.
